This archive footage from a Pathe Gazette, 1932 shows the Bishop blessing the fleet as they depart St Malo to fish off Newfoundland.
The opening title reads: “St. Malo – With the Church’s Blessing. 5,000 people at traditional religious ceremony as great Fishing Fleet, with 3,000 fishermen, leave for 8 months fishing off Newfoundland.”
