OGA fleet on passage to Brixham

Fresh fish for lunch!

We hear from Ben Collins that the fleet is making good progress south west and heading for Brixham for Tuesday night (25 July) where a party is planned by South West Gaffers at the Crown & Anchor.

Solent boat ‘Harbinger’ has reported engine failure, but is nevertheless aiming to continue under sail round Portland Bill. The fleet once again is strung out on what is turning out to be a better day than predicted. Gentle winds from the south force 2 find ‘Betty II’ and ‘Gwenili’ 2 miles east of Exmouth when Paul catches five mackerel for lunch.

‘Gwenili’ sails the Devon coast with the OGA cruise

Golant Gaffer ‘Step Back in Time’, ‘Alice Pellow’, ‘Carlotta’ and ‘Moon River’ have already reached Brixham. ‘Hester’ departed Yarmouth late but is making good time to catch the fleet and reported as somewhere out of Lyme Regis. ‘East Breeze’ left the Solent early in June, and is already in Plymouth. Solent boat, ‘Ivy Green’ has arrived in Dartmouth from Guernsey to await the fleet.

After an enjoyable two days sail from Yarmouth, the OGA fleet gathers in Brixham and relax aboard ‘Vigilance’.
